Engine TuningHere at Race Developments, we can tune your engine to suit both budget and useage. Whether you just want an exhaust system and powercommander for your roadbike or you want another 30bhp out of your GSXR1000, we can help. Most engine work will start off with gasflowing the cylinder head - see out Headwork page for an overview of what will be done. We use the very latest computerised flowbench (more details here....) to improve the breathing capability of the cylinder head. Once this has been done, reprofiled or billet cams can be added. These again improve the power further and really take advantage of the cylinder head work. Before machining an engine, all clearances are checked (squish, valve to piston, etc) and the compression ratio is machined to suit both the desired package and reliability. Power gains from these modifications can range from good to massive depending on the quality of the engine that we start off with. In addition to improving the top end, we can also blueprint the bottom end of the engine. This task removes production line manufacturing tolerances and ensures the engine is built to race specification without any sloppiness or tight spots. Crank, rods and pistons can be lightened and balanced. These modifications will allow the engine to realise its full potential. We offer lots of different tuning package options as can be seen below. They ideally need a full exhaust system and powercommand/dynojet kit fitting too, but you may also have these. If not, we can supply at discounted rates.
